MEDIA RELEASE FAB FOUR CAPTURES CHAMPIONSHIP
The 14TH Annual Ontario V.N.E.A. Provincial Championships took place this past weekend at the Hamilton Convention Centre. Partners Pool Leagues teams and players had great results in the tournament, which featured over 500 players from Ontario and Quebec. Team results were as follows: WOMEN’S SILVER DIVISION Fab Four captured first place, going through the tournament without a loss. After winning three straight matches in the preliminary round robin event, they advanced to a double knockout bracket. They then won two straight games to advance to the finals bracket against Sarnia and only needed the first set to claim victory. Team members included Wendy Stone, Tanya Aultman, Melody Parfitt and Cindy Laplante. MIXED COPPER DIVISION Bubbles Car Wash placed 2nd, going through the tournament with 6 wins and 2 losses. Team members included Yves Lafontaine, Debbie Clark, Randy LeClair and Cory Lambkins. Finishing in fourth place was North Bay’s Lady & The Tramps who finished the tournament with 4 wins and 2 losses. Singles results were as follows: MEN’S BRONZE DIVISION Cary Lafontaine placed 3rd in a field of 61 players. Lafontaine went through the tournament with 5 wins and 2 losses. John Nixon placed 5th, finishing with a 5 and 2 record. MIXED COPPER DIVISION Darrel Doherty placed 2nd in the Mixed Copper division, winning 5 matches along the way. Doherty had lost only 2 matches during the tournament. Finishing in 3rd place was Cory Lambkins and 4th was Randy LeClair, both of North Bay. |
